I recently wrote about touring the Best Buy Tech Home at NorthPoint Mall in Alpharetta. You can read about it here. During my visit, I was inspired to update my home but knew there was no way I could do it on my own. My busy life got in the way, but a few weeks after the visit, I called to schedule an In-Home Advisor (IHA).
Only a few states offer this program currently, so it’s definitely a service you want to take advantage of if it’s available to you. Did I mention, it’s completely free, and the advisors don’t work off commission, so it’s not sales pitchy at all. It’s currently available in Atlanta, Austin, San Antonio, and Orlando. The advisor was able to fit me in the very next day. I was blown away by the ease and swiftness of securing an appointment.
My advisor arrived on time, was super friendly, and made me feel at ease. Consultations can take anywhere from 30 mins to 3 hours, depending on your needs and availability. It was a fun experience and not as daunting or clinical as you would think “consultations” are.
Most people initially call an advisor to check out why their wi-fi system is not working well. That was one of our issues as well, as we live in a 3-story home, and have multiple streaming tvs, phones, computers and tablets. The great thing about having an in-home consultation, versus going into a store to buy a new router or other equipment is that the advisor can give you a detailed analysis of what products would be best for your individual situation. It’s like having a personal shopper who knows you, what you want and what you need. They will measure the area of your house, and your rooms, and devise a plan that allows you to achieve your goals. In-store, and straight out of a box, you have no idea how well a product will work when you actually take it home. But the in-home advisors do know how the products will work in your home because they’ve seen your home.
In-home advisors can take the role as an interior designer as well. They know what size television would work best in your rooms, and what walls they should be placed on, and what seating arrangements work best, which will all save you time and money and make you have an optimal viewing experience.
In-home advisors will answer all your questions, even if you’re tech-challenged as I am and ask a ton of silly questions. They are also willing to help, no matter how big or small the project is. Your in-home advisor wants to be your go-to-person every time you need them, so you can definitely do several small updates as your time and budget allows, versus doing one big overhaul. And they are there with you from consultation through installation.
My in-home advisor came into my home as a Best Buy employee but left as a trusted friend. I really trust his judgment and expertise. I’m excited about working with him and seeing all the changes to my home and lifestyle.
If you’ve been thinking about upgrading or replacing anything in your home, you should definitely request a free in-home consultation. You can do so online at www.BestBuy.com/TechHome, over the phone, or in person at any Best Buy location.
