It’s January 1st and for most people that means making a long list of resolutions (that they usually abandon by February). In recent years, there has been a growing trend to create goals, instead of resolutions, which is very practical and sensible. The most recent trend is to claim one word that will guide you personally throughout the year.
I have decided to adopt this one word philosophy because although I can still have resolutions and goals, my one word will always be in plain sight, guiding me, inspiring me, and keeping me focused on the ultimate outcome I desire. This one word will act as my foundation where upon everything this year will be built on, and will be my compass to direct my decisions.
My One Word of the Year for 2016 is KNOWLEDGE. Perhaps it’s too literal, but I feel that this one word will help me reach my desired lifestyle. I want to read more books (52 specifically), cook, travel, become a better mother, wife, and friend, be minimalistic and clutter free, reduce my debt and save more, exercise daily for weight loss, health and fitness, and find a life outside of motherhood. I think in order for me to accomplish my visions and goals I need to learn a lot. But learning doesn’t come to you. It’s something you have to do. I have to actively research and implement practices and knowledge that will get me there. So 2016, is about me learning from books, people, and the world around me, as much as I can.

This is great and I love that it’s not a usual “resolution”. I’m adopting this for myself as I hate setting “resolutions”. My word is GOAL!
